Before you Meet Prince Charming ~ Sarah Mally

For all the young women preparing to be spotless brides, this is the perfect encouragement and guide. Sarah once again lifts up the discouraged and gives simple but much needed advice through God's word, personal experience, and testimonies.

Some of the chapters and their goals:

When God says wait: "Attempt not to assist God in the work that belongeth to Him."

In this chapter Sarah talks about how impatient young women sometimes forget God's promise of Hebrews 13:5 and take things into our own hands. We consider it ' helping' (hurrying) God with his plans. And many end in disaster if this road is walked too far. Sarah gives practical, and biblical advice on how to stop our impatience.

How Parents can help: " If thou wouldest marry the princess, thou must first petition the King."

In this chapter Sarah expounds on how we can give our hearts and trust to our parents and how this secure situation can save our future marriages. She also gives you 7 reasons to send young men to your dad. These tips are excellent if you haven't heard of courtship (Don't worry! It's not arranged marriage!) Not keeping secrets is part of giving our hearts to our fathers.

Dangers within the Dating System: "Thou shalt not build thy castle on sand."

In this chapter the reader learns of the foolishness and unbiblical standards of dating and why Christians should not embrace the world's way of winning a spouse. We must have a straight, biblical perspective of why we guard our purity. Sarah also covers questions such as " But how will I get to know a guy?" And testimonials of broken girls who can firmly say that dating, 99.9% of the time ends in failure.

I enjoyed this book immensely; it is the best book yet on keeping our hearts with all diligence.

"For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in Thee." Psalms 84:11-12

"I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee..." Hebrew 13:5

"Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap..." Galatians 6:7

I loved her other book (Making Brothers and Sisters... ). I may get this one even though I have boys. I need big time help in this area! If you have any other recommendations for books about courtship, I'd love to hear. I have read Josh Harris' book but that's the only one.
